All pitchers, 1st & 3rd basemen must wear a facemask. (highly suggested for all players in the infield and outfield at this level)
All batters must wear a helmet with a cage.
Player Requirements & Game/Inning Length
Select a parent to act as umpire. Home team decides if teams cannot agree.
Games start at 12 pm or 2 pm. There is no on-field warm up.
Minimum of six players is required to play a game. Fill the infield first. Recruit players from other AA teams or Rookie division prior to the game if you are having a hard time getting (6) players. Teams can also lend players, switching players every inning. Once a team has 6 players they cannot borrow from the opposing team. Once a team has 7 players they cannot borrow from other AA teams or the Rookie Division.
Game length – 1 hour/30 minutes. Start your last inning no later than 1 hour/15 minutes.
4 run rule per inning: girls should finish the play (running & fielding), but that only the 4th run of that half inning counts.
AA is coach-pitch only. Coaches pitch to their own team and should stand roughly 33 feet from the plate and release the ball within one step.
ALL strikes are counted (whether they are swings or over the plate). This is to teach the players when to swing versus hold back.
Strikezone – shoulders to knees
Coaches should not yell to batters to swing or not swing once ball is released from hand.
A coach from the defense’s team should be behind the catcher to help get balls back to the pitcher and speed the game. They cannot physically assist in plays.
2 coaches max are allowed on the field with the players on defense (not including the coach behind the catcher). They cannot physically assist in plays.
No player should play outfield two innings in a row. ALL GIRLS MUST HAVE AT LEAST 2 INNINGS IN THE INFIELD DURING A 3 INNING GAME.
Outfielders must be behind the grass line at start of each pitch.
Up to four outfielders allowed.
Continuous batting order. (Within the 4 run rule).
No on-deck circle. Batters may take one practice swing before getting up to the plate.
Pinch-run for catcher with 2 outs so that they can get ready for the next inning
Have a coach or parent on the bench to oversee kids being ready to bat, the catcher is dressed and ready to head out to the field once there are two outs or getting to the end of the batting order, and making sure players are being safe.
No running into/colliding with any fielder – it's an automatic "out" after 1 warning (per team/per game)
On an overthrow to a base runners on first and second may take the next base if unoccupied. A runner on third must be batted in.
The play is considered over when any fielder attempts to throw the ball to the pitcher (coach or player) on or near the mound.
